United Internet AG can look back on a successful first six months
in the year 2000. Sales of the 18 companies belonging to the United
Internet network grew by 83 percent to EUR 109.6 million.
Consolidated sales of those companies in which United Internet holds
majority stakes grew by 63.5 percent to EUR 91.2 million. Income from
ordinary activities (excluding at-equity losses, amortization of
goodwill and the effects of a staff profit-sharing scheme) amounted
to EUR - 4.1 million. This figure includes the first-time fully
consolidated losses of gmx. In direct comparison with the
consolidated group of the first half of 1999 (without GMX), there was
an improvement in earnings from EUR -3.3 million (1st half 1999) to
EUR 12,000 (1st half 2000). DVFA-based earnings per share amount to
EUR -0.22, and after elimination of goodwill amortization reached EUR
-0.09.
The network was strengthened by the addition of three new
shareholdings in the first six months (Gatrixx, livingNet,
Netzpiloten). In addition, a European portal for online car trading,
car4you, was founded together with PubliGroupe and Eurotax Schwacke.
