DHL Freight eröffnet neues Frachtterminal für den Landverkehr in Sofia

Bonn, 18. Mai 2022: DHL Freight, einer der führenden Anbieter für Straßentransporte in Europa, hat ein neues Frachtterminal in der bulgarischen Hauptstadt Sofia eröffnet. Pünktlich zum 25-jährigen Jubiläum von DHL Freight in Bulgarien ersetzt das neue Terminal den alten Standort. Damit begegnet DHL Freight nicht nur den wachsenden Transportvolumen im Landverkehr, sondern stellt auch die Einhaltung der hohen Qualitäts- und Nachhaltigkeitsstandards von Deutsche Post DHL Group sicher.
„Mit dem neuen DHL Freight-Terminal verstärken wir unser osteuropäisches Netzwerk um ein weiteres wichtiges Frachtdrehkreuz im Landverkehr, das insbesondere unseren Kunden in der Region Sofia einen schnellen und einfachen Zugang zu Logistik- und Transportlösungen bieten wird“, so Uwe Brinks, CEO von DHL Freight. „Unser Ziel ist es, unsere Logistikservices nicht nur konstant zu modernisieren und zu verbessern, sondern unsere Lieferketten auch nachhaltiger zu gestalten.”
Im neuen Terminal kommen innovative Technologien sowie eine moderne Lagerverwaltungssoftware zum Einsatz, durch die die Logistikkapazitäten für alle Services weiter ausgebaut werden. Darüber hinaus bietet das Terminal verschiedene Umschlagseinrichtungen mit elf automatisierten und zwei speziellen Rampen für Lieferfahrzeuge, ein Gefahrgutlager, ein Zolllager sowie einen Logistikbereich mit 3.000m2 Hochregallager für mehr als 6.000 Paletten. Dank der idealen Infrastrukturanbindung des neuen Standorts, ist ein reibungsloser und schneller Warentransport nach Sofia und in die Region gewährleistet. Dezidierte Parkplätze und eine moderne Hoflogistik gewährleisten eine effiziente Abfertigung der LKW. Insgesamt schafft DHL am neuen Standort mehr als 100 Arbeitsplätze.
Nachhaltigkeit und Klimaschutzmaßnahmen gehören zu den wichtigsten Themen unserer Zeit. DHL hat sich in diesem Kontext verpflichtet, nachhaltige Logistiklösungen bereitzustellen, durch die alle logistikbezogenen Emissionen bis 2050 auf netto Null reduziert werden. Mit dem neuen Terminal in Sofia investiert DHL Freight auch in nachhaltige Technologien, alternative Antriebssysteme und nachhaltige Kraftstoffe. Darüber hinaus ist das Gebäude mit modernen Klimasystemen ausgestattet, um den Energieverbrauch zu minimieren und effektiv zu steuern, zum Beispiel durch passive Kühlung, energieeffiziente, verbrauchsarme HLK-Anlagen und moderne Lüftungssysteme mit Wärmerückgewinnung, die ebenfalls zur Verringerung der Umweltbelastung beitragen.
Der Terminal-Neubau in Sofia fällt mit dem 25-jährigen Jubiläum von DHL Freight als einem der führenden Logistikexperten in Bulgarien zusammen.

- New terminal boasts sustainable construction, operations and technology
Bonn, May 18, 2022: DHL Freight, one of the leading providers of road transport services in Europe, opens a new logistics terminal in the Bulgarian capital Sofia. As DHL Freight is celebrating its 25th anniversary in the country, the new terminal replaces the old location to process the increased logistics volume and further ensure Deutsche Post DHL Group’s high-quality standards of sustainable services.
“With the new DHL Freight terminal, we are adding another important hub in Eastern Europe for road freight services, especially for providing fast and easy access to logistics solutions to our customers in the Sofia region,” said Uwe Brinks, CEO DHL Freight. “Our goal is to improve and modernize our logistics service constantly and make the entire supply chain more environmentally friendly.”
The building is equipped with new technologies and modern warehouse software to expand further the logistic capacities that manage all services. Furthermore, the terminal offers various capabilities for X-Dock activities with eleven automated and two specialized ramps for vans, storage of ADR goods, bonded storage, and a logistics area of 3000m² high racking storage for more than 6000 pallets. In addition, the new facility has all the essential transport connections to Sofia that allow smooth and fast transport of goods throughout the region. Besides, allocated parking spaces enable a well-regulated dispatch of all trucks to ensure a simplified loading and unloading of shipments. Overall, DHL is creating more than 100 workplaces on-site with its renewed location in Sofia.
As activities to fight climate change have become some of the most important topics of today, DHL is committed to provide sustainable logistic solutions that will reduce all logistic-related emissions to net-zero by 2050. With the new facility in Sofia, DHL invests in sustainable technology, alternative drives and sustainable fuels. Moreover, modern climate systems minimize and fully control the use of energy sources.
