Ringier Axel Springer Media AG closes the acquisition of the leading Polish online portal Onet.pl

After having obtained approval from Antitrust Authorities, Ringier Axel Springer Media AG has closed today the acquisition of 75 percent of the shares in the leading Polish online portal Onet.pl. TVN S.A., one of the biggest TV-stations in the country and until now the sole owner of Onet.pl, will indirectly continue holding a share of 25 per cent in the platform.
Onet.pl reaches about 70 percent of the Polish internet users with its offer of news and various services. With the acquisition of a majority in Onet.pl, Ringier Axel Springer Media AG consequently continues to implement its digitization strategy in Central and Eastern Europe: with the acquisition of Onet.pl digital media now account for 27 per cent of the Group's total revenues.
