GEA has expanded its tank cleaning portfolio with two serviceable models, making industrial cleaning more efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable. The new service kits extend the lifespan of free-rotating and slow-rotating cleaners used in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and personal care industries – equipment that previously required full replacement after years of use. This initiative is part of GEA’s broader service strategy, aimed at reducing waste and improving operational efficiency for plant operators.

GEA introduces serviceable tank cleaners for more sustainable operations

Düsseldorf (Germany), February 18, 2025 – GEA has expanded its tank cleaning portfolio with two serviceable models, making industrial cleaning more efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable.

Repair instead of replace

To enable on-site servicing of key wear parts such as seals and bearings, GEA engineers have redesigned the Turbodisc and Turbo SSB cleaner series. Maintenance requires no special tools or training. The dedicated GEA service kits include all necessary replacement parts: a wedge lock washer, seal ring, and bush for Turbodisc cleaners; a washer and shaft bearing for Turbo SSB cleaners. This simplifies maintenance, reduces downtime, and ensures continuous operation.

Cutting downtime and costs

A faulty cleaner previously meant significant production delays, as ordering a replacement could take up to two weeks. “With the new service kits, our customers can now handle repairs themselves in just a few days,” says Jana Zimpel, Product Sales Manager for Cleaning Technology at GEA’s Separation and Flow Technologies division. The kits are shipped within two to three days – at a fraction of the cost of a new unit.

Extending lifespan for greater sustainability

Serviceability is a key step toward more sustainable industrial operations. Instead of discarding entire units due to wear, plant operators can now replace small components, significantly reducing material waste. “This approach helps businesses lower costs while improving their environmental footprint through smarter resource use,” says Zimpel.
