CeBIT 2002: New FRITZ!Card DSL USB - ADSL and ISDN Now Over Just One Cable
Berlin/Hanover (ots)
Burgundy-colored, weighing 96 grams, as big as a cellphone and with the technology of the popular FRITZ!Card DSL inside: that's the latest ADSL product from AVM. At CeBIT 2002 AVM presents FRITZ!Card DSL USB, the first USB device to combine ADSL and ISDN in one. Another special feature: The USB adapter uses just one cable to connect to both the ISDN line and the ADSL splitter. The USB variant of FRITZ!Card DSL offers seductively simple installation, and the combination of ADSL and ISDN delivers the full power of the digital line: fast ADSL access to the Internet, and the entire range of ISDN communications including PC faxing, PC telephony, file transfer, remote access and video conferencing.
FRITZ!Card DSL USB Including Full Software Package
FRITZ!Card DSL USB is equipped with a great number of technical highlights for simple and convenient use: The new USB variant of FRITZ!Card DSL connects the PC directly to the DSL splitter and the ISDN NT, and is powered from the USB port, so that it needs no separate power supply. Once the hardware has been automatically detected by the PC, the installation software supplied sets up all the necessary components. The product also includes AVM FRITZ! DSL, a comprehensive application package for day-to-day DSL use. The package includes software for secure, powerful Internet access, Internet connection sharing and ADSL monitoring. The status of all connections is indicated by ergonomically located LEDs. The complete product thus contains everything necessary to begin faster surfing over ADSL, even for beginners. ISDN services such as PC telefax, file transfer and remote access are also convenient to use with the FRITZ! software contained in the package. The new FRITZ!Card DSL USB in a LAN allows several users to surf the Internet simultaneously. The USB device has been developed using all the experience gained with the PCI controller FRITZ!Card DSL, which has won the praise of users and testers since its introduction.
FRITZ!Card DSL Active: The New Internet Service from AVM
At this year's CeBIT, AVM presents a new service offering. In future, a new web site at www.avm.de/DSL/active will provide comprehensive information for DSL users. All important topics will be available at a glance from one location: updates with a version history; current tips and application examples; a direct feedback channel to the AVM developers; and contact to AVM support. A five-year warranty period and AVM's familiar free support for the life of the product make AVM's FRITZ!Card DSL USB complete.
More Security with FRITZ!web DSL
FRITZ!web DSL makes it possible to start surfing immediately, with just a click on the Start button. FRITZ!web DSL can also display the volume of incoming and outgoing data in a separate status window. The monitoring software ADSL Watch provides detailed information about the quality and performance of the ADSL connection. This is the first program to make the ADSL technology fully transparent to the end user. In addition to the data rates actually attained, the display also indicates the protocols and the frequency spectrum used. In short, ADSL Watch provides comprehensive monitoring of the DSL connection at all times.
Investment Security and U-R2 Compatibility
FRITZ!Card DSL USB can be used on all providers' ADSL lines. The controller meets the international recommendation G.992.1 Annex B, as well as the specifications of the U-R2 interface, the "T-DSL modem standard" used by Deutsche Telekom AG. The new AVM product is also ready for higher data speeds in the future, with maximum throughput rates of over 6 Mbit/s download and 820 kbit/s upload.
